Your IE July Culture & Arts Guide
When the valley heat peaks in July, the Inland Empire gives you two great options: head up to the cooler mountains, or settle in for a free movie under the stars. Here are some July highlights across the region.
Escape to the Big Bear mountains
Big Bear Lake sits well above the summer heat, and July is full of live music. The Music in the Mountains concert series plays the Big Bear Discovery Center on July 11 and July 25, with classic rock and country tribute acts. Down in The Village, the Big Bear Summer Concert Series brings a free, admission-free evening of music and line dancing on July 18. Pack a light jacket, the mountain air cools off after sundown.
Movies in the Park in Riverside
Riverside’s free Movies in the Park series turns neighborhood parks into open-air theaters on Friday nights. Catch “The Bad Guys 2” at Hunter Hobby Park on July 24, and “Incredibles 2” at La Sierra Park on July 31. Movies begin at dusk, around 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., so bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic and arrive early for a good spot.
Explore the region’s range
Part of what makes the IE special is its variety, from mountain towns to historic downtowns to wide-open new communities, all within a short drive. It is a wonderful month to explore the diverse micro-climates and neighborhoods the Inland Empire has to offer.
